Eaglebrook School was founded in 1922 by Howard Gibbs as a private boarding and day school for boys in middle school. Learn about our school in Deerfield, Massachusetts then and now, and read about the Core Skills we think every boy should know.
At Eaglebrook, we recognize that all students learn in different ways, vary in their innate abilities, and come from a variety of educational backgrounds. Classes at Eaglebrook are organized to meet the needs of each boy.
Eaglebrook is a close community of middle school students, teachers, and their families. Activities outside of the academic classroom are important to the intellectual, social, physical, and emotional development of boys in middle school. At Eaglebrook, boys learn more than they ever thought possible, discover inner resources, develop self-confidence, and have fun along the way. Delivering on our mission is only possible through the incredible generosity of alumni, parents, parents of alumni, and friends.”
By Shelley Dresser, Eaglebrook Sustainability Coordinator
Eaglebrook School Sustainability program held a sustainability slogan contest this winter term to have students and faculty think about what words truly reflect our commitment to Sustainability at Eaglebrook. The slogan that received the greatest number of votes is EBS, Where Blue and Red make Green, written by Mr. Bedell. The first place student slogan was Lead the Scene and Keep It Green by Eamon Garrity-Rokous. This was followed by Robby O’Brien’s It is Attainable, To be Sustainable, Graham Nielsen’s Have a Heart, And do Your Part and Eamon Garrity-Rokous’s Will Work For Trees! The Luker advisee group won for Recycle like a Brookie, Not a Rookie. In the faculty category the following slogans were recognized: Be Greener and The Earth will Get Cleaner, Anonymous, To Beat Low Heat, A Sweater is better by Ms. Laubin and EBS, The Mean Green CO2 Fighting Machine by Mr. Pohlman. Cort Coleman, Tug Witt, and Michael Leung were instrumental in developing the criteria for the contest. We were impressed by the creativity of all the slogans that we received this year and the winning slogans were incorporated into the annual sustainability bulletin board.
