Eaglebrook School was founded in 1922 by Howard Gibbs as a private boarding and day school for boys in middle school. Learn about our school in Deerfield, Massachusetts then and now, and read about the Core Skills we think every boy should know.
At Eaglebrook, we recognize that all students learn in different ways, vary in their innate abilities, and come from a variety of educational backgrounds. Classes at Eaglebrook are organized to meet the needs of each boy.
Eaglebrook is a close community of middle school students, teachers, and their families. Activities outside of the academic classroom are important to the intellectual, social, physical, and emotional development of boys in middle school. At Eaglebrook, boys learn more than they ever thought possible, discover inner resources, develop self-confidence, and have fun along the way. Delivering on our mission is only possible through the incredible generosity of alumni, parents, parents of alumni, and friends.”
On Wednesday the Eagles played host to Deerfield Academy. The game lived up to the billing as both teams played high-level hockey for 45 minutes. The Eagles played with great energy but could not quite match the heavy play of their opponent. The game would be locked in a 0-0 tie all the way into the final 3 minutes of the game when a scrum in front of Eaglebrook's net produced a bouncing puck that landed on the stick of a Deerfield player who put it behind the Eagles keeper. With the goalie pulled the Eagles could not manage a grade-A opportunity and unfortunately two long clears from Deerfield resulted in empty net goals. It was one of the best matchups of the season and the Eagles look forward to going to Deerfield later this season to even the series.
One of the best stories of the day was the play of Deerfield's Goalie Nick G. '21. Nick was a member of the Eaglebrook Varsity Hockey team in 2020 and 2021, but unfortunately due to a covid year with no games and an unfortunate leg injury last year, Wednesday was Nick's first game in Alfond Arena since attending Eaglebrook.
