Eaglebrook Students Run to Raise Awareness of Domestic Violence, Support Survivors

Eagle News Team
On Sunday morning, a team of eight Eaglebrook students traveled to Northampton, Massachusetts, with Ms. Inch, Mr. Keane, and Mr. Manto to participate in the 21st annual Hot Chocolate Run.

The five-kilometer road race through the city’s main streets supports Safe Passage, a non-profit organization that provides shelter, support, and counseling to survivors of domestic abuse.

This year’s race attracted nearly 6,000 participants, who together raised close to $840,000 for Safe Passage programs.

More than one in three women and one in four men in the United States have experienced domestic violence, and more than 12 million Americans are affected each year. The goal of the Hot Chocolate Run is to raise awareness of these statistics and mobilize resources to help survivors and their loved ones prevent and recover from violence.
