The Eaglebrook Varsity swimming and diving team hosted the Suffield Academy JV team on Wednesday afternoon. After an unexpected close loss in the opening 200-yard medley relay, the Eaglebrook mermen swept all events in a convincing manner, including the diving. One of the highlighted races was the 500-yard freestyle. Steven Gu ’17 raced side by side with his Suffield opponent for 450 yards, with the fans and his teammates cheering him on, chanting ,”GO GU!” in the last 50 yards, Steven raced to a 1 second victory and personal best time. Also swimming in the race, Michael Chiang once again swam a personal best time. Then a few minutes later, the hometown crowd enjoyed another thrilling race by Leon Leung ’16 in the 100-yard breaststroke. Leon accelerated past his opponent from Suffield in the last 25 yards to turn in his own personal best time.
