Eaglebrook Hosts First Friday Night Football Game in School History

The first nighttime football game was played in Pennsylvania 132 years ago. Two hundred light bulbs were strung above the gridiron and connected to a massive, noisy, coal-powered generator. But the game between Mansfield Prep and Wyoming Seminary was called early due to poor visibility. Thomas Edison’s new invention was no match for the darkness of a moonless autumn sky.

Since then, lighting has improved and Friday night football games have become a great American tradition—a celebrated event that brings communities together to cheer on the home team. And Friday evening, November 8, starting at 5:30 p.m., Varsity Football will host Fessenden for the first night game in Eaglebrook history.

You’re invited to join us in the new seating area at the turf field, where refreshments will be available. You can also watch the game live by clicking here.
